The Gesher Secondary Maker Hub is structured into four agile, functionally complementary and visually interconnected parts, with each part facilitating the various processes required for effective design and making. Sliding glass panels enable the spatial and sensory properties of the space to be easily reconfigured while maintaining constant visual access to collaborators, processes, tools and materials.
State-of-the-art digital fabrication/rapid prototyping equipment, media & interactive technologies, traditional hand & crafting tools as well as tinkering & construction kits are situated to promote maximum engagement, functionality and accessibility.
Functional furnishing decisions have been made to enable adaptable working strategies and to promote creative output, idea sharing and collaboration.
The Maker Hub is not intended to exist or function in isolation within Gesher’s learning ecosystem. Extensive video conferencing and project management technologies, coupled with maker carts laden with tools, materials and project kits enable the functionality of the makerspace to become that of a hub, radiating out to all corners of the school and its community.
