Unlike most European capital cities, in 2014 Dublin lacked a community makerspace. Following the creation of a proposal for Dublin City Council to create one, I was contacted by Dublin City University with the proposal for use of a 20,000sqft disused factory building on their new innovation campus. This led to the formation of the Irish Maker Hub non-profit and the development of a team to bring the project to fruition.
