I've always found it amazing how the light changes over the year, and over the course of a day. In the Autumn in Northern Ireland, on the days we get to see it, it is ultra crisp and clean. Shimmering over an unusually still Irish Sea at 8am it forces you to pause and drink it in.
Now safely risen over the horizon, the sun gives off a sense of strength and purpose. I'm usually fairly reluctant to engage with the morning, but today I'm feeling energised from the get-go, so I decided to take my dog Coolie for an early walk.
It's amazing to me how identical photons, ending their short, 8 minutes lives on my retina, can have such a profoundly different emotional effect on me simply depending on the temperature of the air, the relative height of the sun and the stillness of the day.
